My blogging report

Since WordPress put together such a nice report for my blog I figured I should follow-up with a less nice version 😉 But seriously I do want to put something together in my own words.

First off I would like to thank each and every one of you for reading, commenting, sharing, messaging me and following me. I really cannot believe how many people have reached out to me in the four short months of having a blog. I never in a million years dreamed that this blog would get the response that it has. I am still shocked on how many people have reached out to me so far. It is very nice and encouraging to receive the messages and comments from everyone. I really do enjoy chatting with everyone 🙂

Another thing I did not expect when I started blogging was the people I would meet and all of the things I would learn and see  from the comfort of my living room. I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone, seeing pictures and learning things about different states and countries. Maybe I am nerdy but I really do like learning new things! I guess I know I am nerdy since the highlight of my week was installing an updated version of Microsoft Office on my computer and discovering all of the new things about the programs 😉

To date I have had 2,513 views of my blog. I would have never guessed that I would have that many ever. I have 151 followers between email, Facebook, the Twitter and Tumblr. For those of you wondering what Tumblr is, I really have no idea either 😉 I do have two followers on there though!

Speaking of not knowing about things if you haven’t noticed I am pretty green when it comes to this blogging stuff. I kind of feel like those insurance commercials where the lady thinks Facebook is putting pictures on her wall at home. So to those that notice I apologize and trust me I am pinning until my fingers bleed and researching as much as I can to figure this stuff out. I now pretty much know what meta and seo means without having to google it. (Please don’t quiz me just yet) As far as my amateur photography goes I am down to only a smart phone that is not so smart since both of my cameras crapped out on me. Plus I was never good at photography anyway but luckily Wisconsin is a very pretty state so it gives me a lot to work with 🙂

I want to clarify a couple of things. Personal trainer is actually my dad. Husband and step-son are well my husband and step-son. The reason I don’t put the “the” in front of their names all of the time is from what I understand a lot of bloggers change their families and friends names. So no I am not trying to be silly towards them I was just trying to follow the rules. I have been thinking about changing Avery’s name to she-ra. Not legally just bloggally. Percy will always be Percy. If you have ever met my fluffy bundle of cat you know he is just Percy.

I am working on putting posts into the categories so if there are things that I write about that just aren’t your bag you can easily skip over them. (If it’s my casserole posts that you don’t like I personally challenge you to not love corn casserole) I hope to make my blog as user-friendly as possible within the means that I have.

In conclusion, thank you all for reading this messy, half-put together blog 😉 I still get super excited when I see likes, comments and follows 😀 I look forward to writing more posts as soon as my blogger’s block disappears.

He’s just Percy and that’s that

Training for the gym?

Due to wind chills and not being able to go outside I have agreed to try the gym again. This time we will be attending a new gym and I am hoping this gym will be filled with nice people wearing regular clothes. Even though I am very grateful for personal trainer’s equipment I need to change it up a little. I had to force myself to go over there today and workout so I know I need a change of scenery.

Since I know a gym is looming in my future I have been trying to step it up a little so I am ready for the gym. I am not sure why I am admitting this but I have actually been looking up machines online so I will have knowledge of how they work. I just do not want another embarrassing situation. I have also been trying to push myself on the elliptical at personal trainers. Side note on that I was really thinking I was being lazy because every time I got on the dang elliptical my regular routine seemed very hard. After a couple of days or maybe even a week of this personal trainer admitted that he amped up the elliptical to make it harder. Well played personal trainer, well-played. Anyway I am trying to learn more about gym equipment and I am trying different programs on the elliptical so I will be ready for anything on the more high-tech gym kind. I am also giving myself little pep talks. “This time will be different” “You got this” Not really helping but whatever.

Will I have more powder on than the other people at the gym? Probably. Will I be wearing a sports bra? Heck no! Will I be sweating more than everyone else? The answer is yes. I am ready to tackle this gym thing again. I have my powder, deodorant and regular bra ready to go. The only thing missing is a pair of blinders. You know the ones horses wear. Than I wouldn’t be able to see anyone looking at me and my baggy gym clothes. Wish me luck; I have two more days until gym day.

Sunday, Sunday

I don’t know why but I have always had the Sunday blues. When I was in school it was because homework had to be done and I was gearing up for a new week. Then it was work and making sure housework was done. Even though I stay at home for now I still get the Sunday jitters. I always tell myself that I am not going to save everything for Sunday and I always do. Today it was laundry, dishes, vacuuming and cleaning Percy’s litter box. It seems like as hard as I try I always have tons of stuff to do on Sunday and it waits until Sunday night.  Instead of enjoying a nice supper I am running around making sure the clothes are washed and the house is tidy. I can only blame myself and the dang maroon carpet in the living room. (I have a huge list for the tax fairy this year; carpet included) It seems like I always get cranky too. I think it’s mostly because I am upset with myself for saving everything for Sunday again. Then the crank comes out on other people and then we have a situation.

Every Sunday I tell myself that I need to change. Well this Sunday for some reason put me over the edge. My plan of action for next Sunday is to get that laundry done in the morning and get supper in the crock-pot so then I only have to clean it up at night. As for the litter box it has to be done on Sunday since garbage goes out on Monday. (Not sure I am supposed to be putting my litter in the garbage?) Do you ever get anxious or cranky on Sunday? Or maybe you are a lucky and organized and Sunday is a walk in the park. If you are one of those people you must share your secret so I can copy you 😉

This is what Sunday should be all about 🙂

2014 in review

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog. I know I am a little late in posting this but this is a little thing that WordPress put together for me 🙂 Thank you all so much for reading, commenting and sharing! I am looking forward to 2015 😀

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 2,000 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 33 trips to carry that many people.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!!

It’s the most happiest time of the year; ding-dong, ding-dong!! Cranberry Sprite is here!! Ding dong, ding-dong!! Yes folks I am enjoying my first Cranberry Sprite of the year. I know it’s been out for a while but I finally purchased some last night. No, this post is not all about Cranberry Sprite but I do kinda want to shout off the rooftops about it 😉

I have finally started getting ready for Christmas. I think the shopping is done and we even put up our tree. It is half decorated because of Avery but it’s up. This year we even added a tree skirt. Mostly because of Percy. Percy loves Christmas tree water; it’s like gold to him. I was a little scared of him last night when he figured out he couldn’t get to his fave watering hole. But I woke up this morning and so far all is well. We even hung the stockings with care at the highest point we could find.

Since we put the tree up and I was feeling festive I told the kids they could open one present early. It was pretty easy for step-son to pick which one since I only had one wrapped 😉 I didn’t have any of Avery’s wrapped so she ended up getting her Deema doll. Deema is from the Bubble Guppies and Avery loves her. I guess wrapping presents is on the future agenda.

Now it’s time to start planning for the meal I am supposed to be making on Wednesday. I know I should have been thinking about this a long time ago but I have been a big procrastinator this year. Husband is getting a ham from the company he is working for so I will be making that. (I just have to find something for me to eat because we all know how I feel about ham.) It’s a little scary making a main dish that you don’t eat because you have to rely on the opinion of others and sometimes they are not truthful. I have made ham before and they all say it is very good; but is it really or are they trying to spare my feelings? I guess the jokes on them if they don’t like it because I keep making it 😉 If it was up to me we would have Cranberry Sprite and Cupcake Moscato D’ Asti for dinner. If you do like Moscato once in a while or a little more than that I definitely recommend Cupcake Moscato. It is wonderful 🙂 But unfortunately these people want to eat too so I will have to come up with a little more than drinks. I am a little stuck on the potatoes too; since we are having ham it seems logical to have ham gravy. But why in the world I want to miss out on mashed potatoes too? I will have to come up with a plan for that one. I think some of the reason I am procrastinating is because making a big meal is a lot of work. All of the planning, shopping and making of the food makes me want to hibernate for the winter. So I gave myself an early present this year. I decided that since I am making the meal on Wednesday I am not making supper tonight or tomorrow. I haven’t told anyone else yet so we will see how it goes. I really think that it is only fair so if anyone else wants to jump on my no making supper train until Christmas; hop on and enjoy this blissful ride 😉

This year on Christmas day we have nowhere to go so I am planning a little surprise for us. Since husband loves Will Ferrell  we are going to watch Elf, eat leftovers, play with presents and maybe even do some baking. I know you are probably thinking “Why in the world are you baking on Christmas?!?” Well, I haven’t done any yet. The last time I baked was the end of November. So it sounds like a perfect day to do some baking. We have never had a Christmas day where we had nothing planned and I am so excited to have a lazy day at home where we can just enjoy time together 😀 I hope all of you have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy the day with family and friends!!

It’s only just begun….

Oh Cranberry Sprite, how I adore thee

The Baby Gates

The baby gate world is still a little new to me. This is actually our third house we have lived in since we had Avery. Our first house which we owned we never had to put gates up because Avery was only crawling when we lived there. The second house that we rented was a small ranch style so no baby gates needed. Now we have bought another home and this house is a different story. Some days I wish I could gate off every room. We only have two gates right now one at the bottom of the stairs and one upstairs. When we first moved in I thought for sure I would hate the gates. Since I am mechanically not smart I thought I would have a hard time with them. We ended up with the easiest gates we could find. They are so easy that if Avery was a little stronger she could open them. She knows how they work she just isn’t strong enough to open them yet. I say yet cause the girl is like a young She-Ra.

There are a couple of reasons why I love them. The first being is they keep Percy aka my cat out of our bedrooms. Percy’s favorite thing to do is lounge on our beds and sleep the day away. His fave room is stepson’s room. If he can get in there you may never see him again. On the rare occasion that both gates are open you see a huge flash of orange running through like he is on the last leg of a marathon. Usually, Percy is a slow mover unless there is food involved. He has now added the gates being open to his list. I spent the better half of my morning lint rolling and washing our bedding because of him.

The next reason is because they allow me to be lazy. This past weekend we celebrated Christmas with husband’s side of the family. Husband had a great idea to put the presents that we were taking in a basket and then put the presents that we received in the basket instead of carrying bags and boxes around. So when we got home the basket filled up even more with things that needed to go upstairs but I have been too lazy to take up. After catching Avery in the basket for the 500th time I finally decided to take it upstairs. I was doing some cleaning up there too so I put the basket and all of my cleaning supplies on the other side of the gate so she couldn’t get to them until I was ready to go up. Maybe a little mean since she stood there staring at the basket and trying her darndest to get to it.

The biggest reason and probably the only reason I have found that I really dislike them is that I am mechanically not smart. See these gates have what I think you call a hook and eye latch? (Maybe I am learning?) In the middle of the night these things could wake anyone up. I usually still make a trip to the bathroom or Percy gets locked upstairs in the middle of the night; so I am always fumbling around with these silly things in the dark. I guess you never realize how much noise stuff makes until you have a sleeping toddler. You can usually find me standing in front of where the gate should be looking for the gate (cause it swung out to the next county when I opened it) with my iPod on for light. Then after I find the thing I have to turn my iPod back on to find the latch. This is usually after I fumbled around for a good two minutes thinking I know where it is. You would think I would learn my lesson but I never do. I do have some photo evidence of my gate happenings below 😉

Every month I wished for you

Whenever I started to give up hope I wished for you

I wished for you on every star

Now that my wish came true I still wish for you

I wish for you to be happy

I wish for you to love and be loved

I wish for you to have patience and understanding

I wish for you to enjoy life

I wish for you to be silly and have fun

I wish for you to know how much I love you

Funny things I get excited about now that I am a mom

Before I became a mom I would have never dreamed about the things I get excited about or make me happy now. From bowel movements to burps and everything in between. Here are some of the weird and funny things that I get excited about now:

  •  I get excited when you poop. It started when you would get backed up; now it happens when you go in the toilet.
  •  I used to get excited when you would burp. Who knew a burp could bring so much joy into a person’s life?
  • I get excited when I find a toy or book I know you are going to love.
  • I get excited when I help you open up presents (even when they are from me)
  • Sometimes I get excited when you pee. When my inner worry wart comes out and I think you haven’t been peeing enough I get excited when you actually do. Of course when it’s in the toilet I am elated!
  • I get excited every time you learn something. Whether it be with your blocks, puzzles or pretty much anything.
  • I actually get excited when there are new episodes of your favorite show.
  • I get excited when you try a new food and like it!

There are many more silly things that I get excited about but these are the ones that come to mind. Thanks for making my life so exciting!

I get excited when you hold my hand. (I kinda knew that would happen)

When you tell me I can’t

When you tell me I can’t it makes me work harder.

When you tell me I can’t I set my goals higher.

When you tell me I can’t it makes me want it more.

When you tell me I can’t I get more strength.

When you tell me I can’t I perform better.

When you tell me I can’t I will show you I can
